The minimum overhead clearance of fixed bridges over the North Carolina portion of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway is 64 feet with a federal project depth of 12 feet.
NOAA Charts #12206, #11553, 11541, and #11534 provide coverage of the North Carolina portion of the AICW. Intracoastal Waterway buoys and navigational markers are marked with either yellow triangles or yellow squares. Markers with yellow triangles are kept to starboard and yellow squares are kept to port at all times. Generally, this equates to "red right" proceeding southbound along this section of the ICW.
Chart #12206 covers the ICW from Mile 34.0, the Virginia / North Carolina state line to Mile 65.0 at Albemarle Sound via Route #1 and to Mile 65.0 at the mouth of the Pasquotank River via Route #2.
Chart #11553 covers the ICW from Mile 65.0, Albemarle Sound to Mile 170.0 at Neuse River.
Chart #11541 covers the ICW from Mile 170.0, Neuse River to Mile 290.0 at Myrtle Grove Sound.
Chart #11534 covers the ICW from Mile 290.0, at Myrtle Grove Sound to Mile 341.0 at the North Carolina / South Carolina state line and then on to Casino Creek, SC at Mile 426.0.

|203.7||Morehead City RR Bridge||4’||Carolina Coastal Railroad Bridge Closed to vessels from 0900 to 1200 and again from 1300 to 1500 every day from 3 to 7 NOV 2014 to facilitate the maintenance and steel work on the structure. The drawbridge will be able to open, from 1200 to 1300, each day to accommodate vessel traffic during the deviation period. Also, the drawbridge can be opened for emergencies and there is an alternate route for vessels through Beaufort Channel.|
Flagler Memorial Bridge - Effective 12 May 2014 the Flagler Memorial Bridge Spans will be raised for a period of approximately (6) months while bridge reconstruction is in progress.
Royal Park Bridge - Temporary schedule will change to once an hour at 15 minutes past the hour, when requested. There will be no openings between 0816 to 1014 and 1616 to 1814 due to peak traffic periods. This change will be in conjunction with the Flagler Memorial reconstruction.
Southern Boulevard Bridge - Temporary schedule will change to on the hour and ½ hour, when requested. There will be no openings between 0831 to 0959 and 1601 to 1759 due to peak traffic periods. This change will be in conjunction with the Flagler Memorial reconstruction.
